“BERG” GROUP ART SHOW

Kay Fourie, Katie Barnard du Toit, Febé Herholdt and invited artists will participate in a group exhibition to be held in the Trading Company during the Fugard festival in Nieu Bethesda. The theme is “BERG”  and their work together with the works of seven other artists will focus the attention on current contemporary issues regarding the mountains around us and in our lives.

Kay Fourie's sculptures convey transformations between figures and  everyday/found objects, resulting (maybe) in functionality. The resulting works evoke longing, humor or even a sense of whimsicality or creepiness.

Febe Herholdt’s  artwork  consists mainly of expressionist landscapes in acrylics and oil. Growing up in the Karoo made her highly aware of the emotionally evocative landscapes surrounding her.

Through the multi media work David & Bathsheba, Katie Barnard Du Toit focuses the attention of the viewer on the phenomenon of self-destruction by contemporizing the events around David and Bathsheba.

The exhibition promises to show contemporary artworks which will be accessible to a variety of age-group and cultures and to comment on the state of the world and society.

Well known artists who will co-exhibit include Emma Willemse, Hester Viles, Mandy Conidaris, Niël Visser, Yolanda Warnich, Ingrid Bolton and Noeleen Kleve.
